Zara is the Managing Partner of Splash, which she set up in July 1999. Splash has taught more than 4000 people to swim in Devon since it begun, along with many school lessons too!

Zara has been teaching for over 20 years and still loves seeing her pupils swim for the first time, or improve their strokes and water skills further.
Zara teaches all ages and all abilities and has always loved the water and sports from a young age. A Modern Pentathlete who competed to National Level winning a Team Gold Medal at the National Biathlon in 1986. Inspired by GB swimming coach Paddy Garrett, who trained Zara and ignited her passion for streamlining and stroke efficiency for faster swimming.
When not teaching or running the Splash Office, Zara loves to spend time with her family and animals or walk her dogs.
Simon is a Managing Partner of Splash and has been Zara’s support in the Splash Office and right hand man since Splash was started in 1999. They are also married with two teenage children.

Simon has a Degree in Civil Engineering and is amazing at fixing everything and anything; he is always the first person we call on for help!
Simon is a Registered Foster Parent and enjoys seeing children reach their full potential. He also juggles looking after the animals on his smallholding and renovating the house. When he gets the chance he is a bit of a thrill seeker, so has been known to bungee jump, sky dive or abseil for charity.
Becky started working at Splash in September 2014 and has been teaching swimming since April 2013.

Becky teaches all ages from babies to adults, all abilities. Becky comes from a line of swimming teachers, her Mum is a swimming teacher, as was her Grandmother, so it’s become a family tradition!
Becky was part of a local swimming club growing up, which fuelled her interest in swimming techniques and likes to combine it with developing confidence, enabling her swimmers to happily pursue and enjoy many water activities in the future.
Her biggest achievement to date is receiving a 2:1 BA Hons degree for Creative Writing. When Becky’s not teaching she likes to do anything creative, whether it’s writing, painting, baking or knitting! She also loves to swim in the sea when it’s warmer and snowboard whenever she gets the chance.
Billy started working for splash in September 2016 and has been a qualified swimming teacher since April 2016.
Relevant Qualifications: ASA Level 2 Swimming Teacher , Safeguarding and Protecting Children, National Pool Lifeguard Qualification, Enhanced DBS check and Visually Impaired Friendly Swimming 2015.
Billy’s love for swimming began when he learnt to swim through a local swimming club which he then competed for when he was older. Since 2015, Billy worked as a lifeguard at a water park in his home town before deciding to take his career in leisure further and become a qualified swimming teacher. He loved to see how much children would grow and progress in their lessons over time and the fun they would have whilst learning to swim. In the summer of 2016 Billy spent his time working at a summer camp in Texas, America. Whilst he was there he worked in the waterfront department which required him to run instructional swim lessons. The lessons involved teaching children of all ages and a variety of abilities which he loved.
Billy is currently in his first year of university studying Accounting & Finance at the University of Exeter. When Billy is not studying or working his main interests are: travel, swimming and charity work.
Nikki started working for Splash in February 2007 and has been teaching swimming since September 2005.

Nikki teaches all ages from babies through to adults at all levels, she particularly loves teaching non-swimmers or early stages.
Her love & inspiration for teaching swimming comes from seeing someone who is scared and lacking confidence, then transformed to a relaxed swimmer who is enjoying the water. Nikki has always loved the water and has a passion to pass this on to others.
When she’s not teaching she likes to travel, her bucket list just keeps getting bigger!
Malcolm started teaching for Splash in 2010 and has been teaching and coaching swimming for over 20 years.
Relevant Qualifications: Level 3 Swimming Coach, Level 2 Swimming Teacher, Rescue Test for Teachers, Child Safeguarding course and DBS Enhanced Checked.
Malcolm teaches and coaches children that can swim from Turtles through to Sharks. Alongside teaching at Splash he is also the Head Coach for Sidvale Swimming Club based in Sidmouth, he has a great eye for detail and is passionate about seeing swimmers develop excellent swimming techniques & skills.
When Malcolm is not teaching he is a Church Warden and is currently renovating his new house. Malcolm enjoys swimming, cycling and walking his dog with his family too.
Samson Started working at Splash in September 2016 and Has been teaching swimming since 2015 in UK.Relevant Qualifications: STA level 2 Swimming teacher, National Pool Lifeguard Qualification, PADI Scuba Diving Advanced Open Water Diver plus Enriched Air Diver, Child Safeguarding Course and DBS Enhanced Checked.
Samson teaches a range of ages from 3 years old up to adults. He has always been a keen swimmer from a young age as well as participating in water activities. Before relocating to the UK with his wife, Samson taught in an international British primary school in Beijing, China.
Samson has a passion for teaching non-swimmers and young children because it is rewarding to see the progress that can be made over a series of lessons. His ethos is that learning should be fun and his teaching takes account of different learning styles, ensuring that learners feel comfortable and safe in the water.
In his spare time, Samson likes to travel abroad and make the most of opportunities to take part in sea swimming, snorkeling and skiing. Last year, Samson enjoyed completing his scuba diving qualifications. He is also trained in photography including underwater shoots and was previously a professional trumpet player in the Chinese military.
If you ever hear a bird noise in the swimming pool, it’s probably Samson!
Rowena started working for Splash in July 2016 and has been teaching swimming since 2007.
Josh has been working for splash since March 2018, and teaching since 2015.
Relevant qualifications: ASA Level 2, Safety Award for Teachers, Emergency First Aid at Work, Safeguarding Children & Adults.
Josh is in his last year at Sixth Form and finishing his A levels, he is Deputy Head Boy at his Sixth Form and is Zara and Simon’s son. Josh Also has a passion for sailing and has competed to an international standard competing in the topper world championships in Italy. He also coaches children to sail at Starcross Yacht club.
Josh learnt to swim with Splash Swim School and enjoyed achieving all the stages. He still enjoys getting in to the pool and having a swim, and competing in local triathlons.
Josh is a practical thinking person and enjoys engaging with children and adults and likes nothing more than seeing people reach their full potential and enjoying the water.
Sammy started working for Splash in January 2017 and has been teaching swimming since she was 16.
Relevant Qualifications: Level 2 Swimming Teacher, Level 2 Diploma in Coaching Swimming, Child Safeguarding Course, Further course in Working with Children with Autism and DBS Enhanced Checked.
Sammy enjoys teaching all stages and likes to see her swimmer’s confidence improve, reach their targets and feel proud of themselves.
Her love & inspiration for teaching swimming comes from being a competitive swimmer who has competed at National level. Swimming has been important to Sammy, giving her confidence and self-esteem whilst growing up and is keen to pass on her passion to others.

Sam started teaching for Splash in May 2017 and is currently on maternity leave.

Sam teaches all ages from babies to adults. Sam used to swim competitively until the age of 14. From then on, she always wanted to work with children and started off volunteering, helping with teaching. Sam has found a love for teaching and wishes to continue to share this enthusiasm through everybody she has the pleasure of teaching.

In her spare time Sam likes to get out and about, travel, socialise and keep busy.
